Individual Psychotherapy

Life can feel overwhelming when anxiety, depression, or ongoing stress shapes your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. For many people, these experiences are not simply temporary difficulties—they reflect patterns that have developed over years and that may resist self-management or traditional coping strategies.

Dr. Clare Campbell provides individualized psychotherapy designed to address these challenges at their source. By understanding and facing the emotional forces and patterns perpetuating persistent stress and distress, clients are helped to relate more authentically to themselves and others, and ultimately experience relief and growth.

Understanding Therapy

Dr. Campbell’s approach is tailored to each individual, combining a thorough understanding of psychological theory with practical, actionable strategies. She emphasizes both understanding and skill-building, helping clients develop insight into the patterns and triggers that maintain anxiety, depression, or stress, while also learning new ways to respond. The therapy is experiential, meaning clients engage in the moment-to-moment experience of their emotions, gaining awareness of how their feelings, thoughts, and physical responses interact.

In sessions, clients often explore:

  • Patterns of thought that perpetuate anxiety or depressive states

  • How stress manifests in the body and affects daily functioning

  • Emotional triggers in relationships and life circumstances

  • Coping strategies to navigate high-stress situations effectively

Sessions are conducted either in-person in Darien, Connecticut, or via secure telehealth across the United States. The process typically begins with an initial assessment to understand your history, your goals, and the ways in which your emotional life may be influencing your experiences. Over time, therapy provides tools not only to reduce symptoms but to create lasting change in how you relate to yourself and others.

Many clients report that after engaging in individual psychotherapy with Dr. Campbell, they experience increased clarity, a stronger sense of emotional regulation, and a renewed confidence in their ability to face life’s challenges. This form of therapy is ideal for anyone seeking to understand themselves more deeply, break repetitive patterns, and build resilience for the long term.
